Scam Alert

I received this inquiry on a home listed for sale. The communication was a strong cash offer to purchase the home sight unseen. The "buyer" indicated in his subsequent e-mails that he did want an appraisal and inspections but the offer was contingent upon neither. He e-mailed a bank statement from ICBC which is the fourth largest bank in China reflecting sufficient 'dollars' to consumate the purchase.Too good to be true? Emphatically yes! The bogus phone number he provided indicated a scam. Yes, monies would be sent to be deposited but more than was initially discussed for earnest money. Upon receipt the receiver is asked to cut a check for the overage back to the scammer. Be alert when receiving offers that seem to good to be true from overseas buyers. Let your intuition and common sense guide you and look before you leap.
